A Love Story to Remember: Maria & Mike’s Magical Fall Wedding at Pleasantdale Chateau

Maria and Mike’s journey together began on March 2021, with a swipe on Hinge and a shared love for adventure. Their first date featured tapas in Mahwah, NJ, and a memorable introduction where Mike announced, “Just letting you know I’m vaccinated.” This quirky start blossomed into a relationship filled with travel, shared cultures, and a deep love for each other. Over the years, their adventures took them from jet skiing in Long Beach Island to getting stranded in Milos. It was in Maria’s beloved Aruba where Mike nervously pulled off a heartfelt proposal—despite a few hiccups along the way—on a picturesque beach with a hidden photographer capturing the magic.

Fast forward to their wedding day, a beautiful fall celebration that blended their Greek and Portuguese cultures and reflected the warmth and love they share.

A Venue Worth Falling For

Pleasantdale Chateau & Conference Estate was not originally in their plans, but fate had other ideas. The moment they arrived, they were captivated by the estate’s enchanting beauty. Maria loved how unique it was compared to other New Jersey venues, and Mike felt transported back to Portugal. This romantic and elegant setting became the perfect backdrop for their special day.

A Joyful Ceremony at The Metropolitan Cathedral of St. John The Theologian

Their day began with a traditional Greek ceremony at The Metropolitan Cathedral of St. John The Theologian. Surrounded by their loved ones, Maria and Mike exchanged vows in a service filled with meaningful rituals, including the stefana (crowning ceremony) and the ceremonial walk around the altar. It was a heartfelt nod to Maria’s heritage, setting the tone for the celebration ahead.

Capturing Timeless Moments at Pleasantdale Chateau

After the ceremony, we headed back to Pleasantdale Chateau for the couple’s photo session. The estate’s lush gardens and timeless architecture provided the perfect scenery. We captured intimate moments of Maria and Mike as they laughed, danced, and embraced the joy of their wedding day. Riley, their adorable puppy, even made a cameo, adding a touch of whimsy to the portraits.

A Reception to Remember

The evening transitioned into a high-energy reception with over 300 guests. The grand ballroom came alive with Greek and Portuguese music, reflecting their shared love for their cultures. Maria and Mike’s first dance was a beautiful blend of tradition and romance, followed by Greek dancing that brought everyone to their feet. Guests reveled in the celebration, creating unforgettable memories.

As the night progressed, we surprised the couple with a same-day edit of their wedding video. Watching their day unfold through the eyes of a guest left them beaming with joy and laughter.
