A Luxury Christening at The Grove, Cedar Grove
Some days ask to be remembered slowly. This one began beneath the soaring Gothic arches of the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark — one of the most breathtaking churches in the country — and ended in celebration at The Grove in Cedar Grove. As the New Jersey christening photographer trusted with the day, our work was simple and sacred: to hold onto every glance, every happy tear, every small hand, so the family can relive it for generations to come.
A Sacred Morning at the Cathedral Basilica
There are few settings more moving than the Cathedral Basilica. Light poured through its stained-glass windows and fell softly across the font as the ceremony began. The christening itself lasted only about thirty minutes — but inside those minutes were the moments that matter most: the pouring of the water, the white gown, the quiet pride on her parents’ faces.
We photograph these sacraments the way we’d want our own remembered — unobtrusively and reverently, letting the ritual breathe. No staged interruptions, no missed reactions. Just the day as it truly unfolded, captured in the grandeur it deserved.
Surrounded by Family
Before the celebration moved on, we gathered everyone for portraits — her dads, her abuelas, her tías, her cousins and their spouses, all crowded in close around the guest of honor. Three generations in a single frame.
These are the photographs families keep on the mantel for the next fifty years, so we took our time with them: full-family combinations on the grand staircase, softer moments on the couches, the baby passed gently from arms to arms. Serving multigenerational, bilingual families is at the very heart of what we do — and days like this are exactly why.
A Luxury Celebration at The Grove
By noon, the celebration moved to The Grove in Cedar Grove, where 120 guests were welcomed with a cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres in the lobby. The reception that followed was pure warmth — the kind of room where every detail, from the florals to the table settings, had clearly been chosen with love.
We stayed close to the details and closer to the people: the toasts, the laughter, the grandparents watching it all with glassy eyes. A christening is a promise a family makes together, and The Grove gave that promise a beautiful place to unfold.
