Some of the most meaningful parts of being a family photographer happen when we are invited back—not simply for another event, but for another chapter in the same family’s story.
On October 21, 2023, we had the honor of photographing a beautiful baptism for Danielle and her family at St. Pius X Church in Montville, New Jersey. Nearly three years later, on June 28, 2026, they welcomed us back to the same church to document another child’s baptism.
Returning to photograph this family was incredibly special. Although each baptism marked a different moment, both celebrations were centered on the same things: faith, family, tradition and the people chosen to support each child throughout life.
A Meaningful Return to St. Pius X Church
There is something powerful about returning to the same church for another family milestone.
St. Pius X Church once again provided a meaningful setting as family members, friends and godparents gathered for the baptism ceremony. Our role was to photograph the day respectfully and naturally while preserving the moments the family may not have been able to fully see as they unfolded.
We documented the blessing, the baptism itself, the involvement of the godparents and the loving reactions shared by everyone present.
These ceremonies may be brief, but they carry tremendous meaning. Every expression, gesture and interaction contributes to the story of the day.

Church ceremonies require a thoughtful and unobtrusive approach. We want the family to remain present in the experience without feeling as though the photography is interrupting the significance of the occasion.
During both baptisms, we focused on capturing:
- The child entering the church with the family

- The blessing and pouring of the baptismal water
- The parents and godparents participating in the sacrament
- Reactions from grandparents, relatives and friends
- Natural interactions between family members

Family and Godparent Portraits After the Ceremony
After the baptism, we created a collection of family portraits inside and around St. Pius X Church.
Because the family did not have a separate reception, these portraits became an especially important part of the coverage. They provided an opportunity to document everyone who came together to support and celebrate the child.
We photographed the child with the parents, godparents, immediate family, extended relatives and close friends. We also created individual groupings so the family would have a complete visual record of everyone who shared the occasion with them.
These portraits often become some of the most valuable photographs from a baptism. As children grow and families change, the images preserve the relationships surrounding them at the beginning of their faith journey.
Photographing Two Chapters of the Same Family Story
Seeing photographs from the 2023 baptism alongside images from the 2026 celebration reveals more than two individual events.
Together, the photographs show a family growing, traditions continuing and relationships becoming part of a larger family history.
This is why we believe milestone photography matters. A single photograph preserves a moment. A collection created over several years begins to preserve a legacy.
