Some love stories begin with an elaborate introduction. Marisa and Matt’s began with a match on Bumble, an immediate connection, and weeks of conversations that neither of them wanted to end.
What may have sounded like a simple first meeting quickly turned into hours of conversation and the beginning of a relationship built around friendship, adventure, family, and finding happiness in everyday life.
Years later, surrounded by the people who had supported their story, Marisa and Matt became husband and wife.
Their wedding day was elegant and formal, but its heart was deeply personal. It was a celebration filled with faith, meaningful family traditions, genuine emotion, and a dance floor full of the people they love most.
Before the Wedding Day
Matt proposed on February 2025, at the Celery Farm in Allendale, New Jersey.
With help from his brother and sister-in-law, he arranged a surprise proposal beside the frozen pond. The area was decorated before Marisa arrived, and what she believed would be a day of activities and ice skating became the beginning of their next chapter together.
Their engagement session gave us the opportunity to photograph the connection we would later see throughout their wedding day: playful, affectionate, adventurous, and completely comfortable.
Rather than creating images that felt overly staged, we focused on movement, interaction, and the small expressions that reveal who they are together.
A Wedding Morning Filled With Anticipation
Both Marisa and Matt prepared for the day at Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park.
Marisa’s bridal look reflected the classic elegance of the celebration. She wore an Essense of Australia gown from I Do I Do in Morristown, paired with a veil from Azazie and bridal shoes by Kailee P.
The wedding design combined eucalyptus green, white, gold, and black. White roses and eucalyptus greenery carried the palette into the floral arrangements, while the stationery and personalized details gave everything a polished and cohesive appearance.
The bridesmaids wore eucalyptus green, while Matt and the groomsmen kept the formal look timeless in black attire.
But beyond the details, the morning was about anticipation. It was about the people helping Marisa into her gown, the conversations happening between Matt and his closest friends, and the realization that after years of building a life together, the wedding day had finally arrived.
A Private First Look Before the Ceremony

Before traveling to the church, Marisa and Matt shared a first look.
A first look does more than create additional time for portraits. It gives a couple a few quiet minutes together before the pace of the day changes and they are surrounded by guests.
For Marisa and Matt, it offered a chance to take everything in, see each other for the first time, and share a moment that belonged only to them.
Their reactions were natural, emotional, and filled with the warmth that defines their relationship.
A Meaningful Catholic Wedding Ceremony in Chatham
Marisa and Matt exchanged vows during a full Catholic Mass at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Chatham, New Jersey.
Faith and family were central to the ceremony. Surrounded by their parents, siblings, grandparents, wedding party, and closest friends, they made the commitment that had brought everyone together that day.
The ceremony included traditional moments, photographs with their godparents, and family portraits at the altar. These formal photographs will become part of their family’s history, but it was equally important to document the moments happening between them—the glances, reactions, embraces, and gestures that could not have been planned.
Once the ceremony concluded, the newlyweds returned to Brooklake to continue the celebration.
Wedding Portraits That Still Felt Like Marisa and Matt
Marisa and Matt described their relationship as fun, social, adventurous, and family-oriented. They wanted wedding photographs that showed that side of them rather than images that felt disconnected from who they are.
Our approach combined guided editorial portraits with documentary coverage.
We gave them direction when it helped with composition, light, and posture, but we also created space for them to move, talk, laugh, and interact naturally. The result was a collection that felt polished without losing its personality.
Brooklake’s outdoor spaces allowed us to create a variety of photographs without taking the couple far away from their families or celebration. We used the patio, greenery, open landscape, and changing evening light while keeping the photography timeline comfortable and organized.
Because our photography and video team already understands the property and the flow of weddings at Brooklake, we could work efficiently while still giving Marisa and Matt time to be present with their guests.
A Reception Created Around the People They Love
When Marisa and Matt described what they were most excited about, their answer was simple: being surrounded by the people who matter most to them.
That intention could be felt throughout the reception.
The evening included heartfelt dances, speeches, a formal cake cutting, and a special grandfather-and-granddaughter dance. Each tradition was given its own moment rather than being rushed into the reception timeline.
After their sunset portraits, Marisa changed into a second dress and returned ready to enjoy the remainder of the celebration.
The room quickly shifted from elegant dinner reception to an energetic party as family and friends filled the dance floor.
An Evening Full of Personal Touches
Marisa and Matt incorporated several details that made the experience distinctly theirs.
Guests were treated to customized donuts from Sugar Lips Donuts, personalized favors from Olive-n-Grape, and a mobile cigar lounge where they could enjoy hand-rolled cigars outdoors during the final portion of the reception.
Their seating tags were incorporated into the favors, creating a detail that was both functional and personal.
These elements were not included simply to decorate the wedding. They were chosen to give guests opportunities to gather, talk, enjoy themselves, and participate in the celebration.
That sense of hospitality reflected Marisa and Matt perfectly. They are happiest spending time with friends and family, whether they are traveling somewhere new or enjoying the simple routines of everyday life.
Preserving More Than the Appearance of the Day
When Marisa and Matt look back at their wedding photographs and film, they want to remember almost every part of the experience.
They want to remember what their families looked like as they walked down the aisle. They want to hear the words spoken during the ceremony and speeches. They want to see the expressions they may not have noticed while the day was happening.
